The powwow will take place at the Marriott Courtyard in Sherman Oaks, easy to get to (http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/laxsf-courtyard-los-angeles-sherman-oaks/). The desserts, especially the cream cheese carrot cake, are quite good. If there is interest, I can present a short (10 minute) talk about a relevant business model for translation.

I translate from Hebrew, French and Russian to English, specializing in legal and financial texts. My wife translates medical texts from English to Hebrew. We live in Israel but are visiting LA and would like to meet some translators.

We look forward to the opportunity.

While the overall LA area is home to many freelance linguists (translators, interpreters, editors, trainers, etc.) with fluencies in a wide range of language pairs, we very rarely have held such useful and much-missed gatherings since the demise a few years of the now-defunct and disappeared former Southern CA Translators and Interpreters Association (SCATIA).
Today is Saturday, June 20, 2015.

First of all, my apologies for not replying earlier but I did not notice there were questions.
In response to the queries, the "agenda" as such will be brief introductions (please bring your business card to help people remember afterwards). I will then give a short (10 minute) talk/lecture on the business importance of small projects. I welcome any other ideas to make this meeting fruitful for everybody.

The meeting is in the evening, currently at 7:00 (19:00). At this stage, it will be in the coffee shop/lobby area, which has plenty of room. If the number of people confirming attendance justifies it, I will try to get a more private area.
If you have any other questions or ideas, please let us know. Yes, we would be thrilled if you would "spread the news". The more the merrier.
