Bio
Specializing in HVAC English -> neutral US Spanish. My journey to this specialization began with an Italian-American architect dad who had us kids up and working on house projects each and every weekend! I was shingling a roof at 8, and pointing mortar too. College and graduate school in Spanish Linguistics followed, along with a happy meeting with my future husband, a manufacturer's representative for heating, plumbing and air conditioning. Together we have rehabbed, remodeled, added onto, and built numerous buildings and structures together, most often using the products he sells. This hands on knowledge of products allows me to provide superior quality translations of technical materials, marrying my life experience in construction with my academic experience in Spanish linguistics.

Ph.D. in Hispanic Linguistics, specializing in dialects of the Americas, and neutral US Spanish. It started, I suppose, because I was a bit of a dreamer. My dad used to show us his slides from the Army, post WWII in Europe. I fell in love with black and white images of far away places. I always knew I would study abroad, and landed in Madrid at 19 years old, leaving a rural town in upstate New York for a cosmopolitan city speaking only Spanish. I thrived. I fell in love with parts of the culture, and most definitely with the language. I added Italian classes while in Spain, and now am working on Brazilian Portuguese. I've also studied Greek, Russian and French. Maybe Hindi is next?

Desktop publishing services available. As a bit of a technology buff, I have added the ability to complete projects using the Adobe suite of tools. It makes sense to have your translator fit your translated project back into the brochure you have already prepared. Warning: English to Spanish will always necessitate a smaller font size! Expect your project to grow by 1/3 in the Spanish version.

Legal projects. I also enjoy legal translations, informational literature on how to complete a living will form, and other similar materials.

Food, wine, culinary. This is another area of interest that harkens back to my Italian-American roots. My grandmother could make anything in the refrigerator turn into an amazing appetizer, main course, side dish or dessert. Seriously, she was that good! I authored a food and wine blog for several years, first with a local newspaper Vinoteca, and then with a bit more poetic license, on our own website, Sauced in New York.
