Thomas, working as the sole owner of @translations, recently graduated from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies (MIIS) in 2017 with his Masters of Arts in German Translation and a specialization in Localization and Project Management.
During his two-year career at MIIS, he studied a variety of topics ranging from economics, marketing, patents, engineering, legal contracts, business briefs, and many more.
In addition to extensive training in bilateral translation in German and English, Thomas also received training in localization, using such tools as Okapi, Unity, Microsoft Visual Studio, and XCode, and becoming familiar with html, javascript, and CSS languages in order to implement effective solutions for creating applications and software that are accessible to speakers of any language.
Thomas is also trained in the process of desktop publishing, using the tools included within the entire Adobe Creative Suite to faithfully transfer the structure and format of the source text to the target translation.
Thomas has also several months of in-country experience, including working as a professional in-house translator in Berlin.
Thomas previously earned a B.A. in Japanese Language and Culture, a B.A. in German and Spanish, and a separate B.A. in French and Italian, in addition to receiving a minor in Linguistics from Florida State University in 2014.
