That's because I just finished closing them all out. All I can say is that I spend the day with a lot of them open, not only for work but also for following the news and dealing with other matters. I'm on four committees and a board of directors.
Plus, I easily get distracted and start looking up things that come to mind.

It depends, so I also can use up to 7-20 tabs in different browsers: Opera, FF, Vivaldi, Chrome, IE/Edge, TOR, and Yandex Browser. (Of course, under SandBoxIE)

It depends

When I'm working on a translation I may have up to 10 or more tabs open, because I need to refer quickly to search pages or to sources I'm consulting as I go.
But I'm always happy when I can click on the "close all other tabs" icon.
One thing I always do when logging in to online banking or other confidential websites: close all other tabs. I would never go to check my bank account if any other tabs are open.
