Hi everyone,

I was recently excited to learn that the ATA has published a "Patent Translator's Handbook," but I was almost immediately disappointed to learn that the ATA has suspended all book sales due to the pandemic, and the book is not available as an eBook. Does anyone out there have a copy of this book that they would be willing to sell to me? Or do you have any leads on where I could find a used copy? Hi everyone,

I was recently excited to learn that the ATA has published a "Patent Translator's Handbook," but I was almost immediately disappointed to learn that the ATA has suspended all book sales due to the pandemic, and the book is not available as an eBook. Does anyone out there have a copy of this book that they would be willing to sell to me? Or do you have any leads on where I could find a used copy? I am willing to pay for shipping from (almost?) anywhere in the world (I live in Germany).

Alternative question: Does anyone have suggestions for other patent translation books? My language pair is German to English and many resources I've discovered seem to focus on Japanese.

Thanks in advance for any helpful info!

Order it from the ATA Feb 2, 2021

Looks like you could order it here before the "current situation":

https://www.atanet.org/kiosk/ATA_PubWare.pl

At the bottom of the form, though, it reads:

ATA has temporarily stopped processing orders due to Covid-19. Thank you for your continued support and understanding during this time.

This is exactly the problem I'm trying to solve, which I already mentioned in my post. I'm looking for new information about other sources of the book.

Blog on Patent translation Feb 3, 2021

The author of the blog has written an article in that ATA Handbook and has updated his information here:

https://patenttranslator.wordpress.com/2010/07/23/internet-resources-for-translating-patents-into-english/

Maybe there are some useful links.

Check out from a library? Feb 5, 2021

If I were you I would look into checking it out/accessing it from a library (or asking a friend/relative to do so):
https://www.worldcat.org/title/patent-translators-handbook/oclc/260276515

Thanks for the suggestion, I hadn't thought of that. When I put my location into the search the closest option is shows me is from the UK, but maybe I can find an option close to someone I know who lives in the US. I will definitely look into this!
