Source text - Italian Questo libretto non è un sunto delle Istituzioni di diritto privato, né un compendio della Filosofia del diritto privato, ma piuttosto un racconto in cui mi propongo di esporre alcuni indirizzi legislativi e giurisprudenziali, orientamenti dottrinali, casi intriganti, che fanno riflettere sul diritto privato. Tra le diverse partizioni in cui si divide per antica tradizione la scienza giuridica, il diritto privato può vantare una storia millenaria, un grande spessore culturale, una solida organizzazione dogmatica, una fondamentale funzione pratica.
Dal punto di vista della pratica forense il diritto privato è il settore preminente delle cause trattate dagli avvocati ; il recupero dei crediti, i rapporti di lavoro, i rapporti coniugali, i conflitti tra proprietari confinanti o tra proprietari e possessori dei beni, la vita condominiale, i sinistri stradali, il risarcimento del danno alla persona sono infatti le materie con cui si confrontano quotidianamente gli “operatori del diritto”. Translation - English This book is neither a summary of the institutions of private law nor a compendium of the philosophy of private law but rather a narrative in which I describe some legislative and jurisprudential tendencies, doctrinal orientations and intriguing cases that provoke reflection on private law. Among the various categories into which legal science is divided by longstanding tradition, private law can boast a millenary history, a great cultural depth, a solid dogmatic organization, and a fundamental practical function.
From the point of view of legal practice, private law is the pre-eminent sector in cases handled by lawyers; credit recovery, employment relations, marital relations, disputes between neighboring owners or between owners and possessors of assets, condominial matters, road accidents, compensation of personal damages- these are the matters that “legal operators” confront on a daily basis. If private law should also include commercial law, then we must think of businesses and firms, stocks and shares, bankruptcy, the financial market, the on-line market.

L'Opa, per fare un esempio, potrebbe essere lanciata a 1 euro. Dopo l'Opa, con probabile fusione di Transalpina e Edison, potrebbe essere realizzato liberamente lo spezzatino con asset o cash ai soci italiani.
Translation - English It’s obvious that with a renewed agreement, market regulator Consob might impose a takeover on Edison. Another possibility could be a move to give greater satisfaction to the markets. The surrender of plants may happen only after a voluntary takeover of Edison and its subsequent delisting: in this way the minority shareholders would be rewarded first, perhaps with a bonus on the current share price (0.79 euro). For example, the tender offer could be launched at 1 euro. After the takeover, with the probable merger of Transalpina and Edison, the breakup could go ahead freely, with cash or assets for the Italian shareholders.

After a successful early career in performing and live arts I settled in Italy in the late 90s and became a freelance translator in the years following, developing several areas of specialisation across creative, technical and industrial subject areas: architecture, advertising aviation and aeronautics, legal and contracts, manuals, technical and IT, general science and engineering, telecommunications, tourism, arts and cinema.
Being a long term resident of Italy, I have gained a deep knowledge of the cultural and social mores of the country.
I have benefited from several years experience working in-house for an Italian government agency, translating a huge number of texts in the areas of public administration, economics, business, finance and marketing.
My strengths include a clear, natural, prose style; attention to detail; ability to work under pressure; a flair for interpreting difficult texts.
