Born and raised in Slovakia, Jana Hlavata has an excellent understanding and control of the Slovak language and more than years professional translation experience. She completed her linguistic studies at the University of Matej Bell (B.Bystrica, Slovakia), where she graduated from a Philological Faculty as a Translator and Interpreter for languages Spanish and English. Later on she broadened her studies at Goldsmith University, London, where she obtained Certificate in Language Teaching to Adults – CLTA in order to combine translations with teaching of Spanish language and interpreting. Her passion for travel took her to many corners of the English and Spanish speaking world, first to New Zealand during her secondary studies, later on to Spain as an ERASMUS student, North America and finally to UK, where she currently resides and works as a freelance translator and Spanish and Community interpreting teacher at South Thames College, London. Living, studying and working in both Spain and England for several years provided her with thorough, first-hand knowledge of both countries and their cultures. Residing between UK, Spain and Slovakia, working daily with both English and Spanish language, plus living with Slovak speaking partner makes her actively immersed in all three languages.
