I am sorry I did not make it in the end. Seemed crazy to miss the first Serbia Powwow, now that it finally happened, but I must admit, the slight uncertainty in the days before put me off, and something else came up. I hope there will be another one soon and I will have a chance to meet all of you.

The meeting and gathering of the Proz com members in Dva Jelena restaurant in Skadarlija ended as I personally expected in warm and friendly atmosphere. I am sure that all of those who were present on Saturday enjoyed each other company a lot. There are still so many things to talk about and share experience and knowledge in translation methods. I hope we will be able to meet again and soon. I will be in Budapest and I hope to see them there.

The meeting was very pleasant, useful and in my opinion a great support in particular for young translators; Jairo described the event and atmosphere quite well and I can only say that I hope we'll meet again soon. I would like to emphasize also that thanks to Romina's great efforts and help we overcame our initial organizational problems.

I'm glad to inform you that, with Aleksander's assistance, I verified identity of 17 present members.

I've noticed that Olgica Angelovska (ProZ user name: olgica) is missing on the attendance sheet - she was there and I verified her identity. As for Mico Zivkovic, he was present, but he wasn't ProZ member at that moment, maybe he’s become it in the meantime.

The fact that we met at 2 p.m. and the last of us stayed until 8 p.m. shows that there were so many things to share and that such events should be organized more often.
As Jairo mentioned, it is indeed pity that on the most beautiful sunny spring day we sat most of the time in a dimly lit – indeed very private – room, and with such a seating arrangement that did not allow us to mingle and talk with more people than just our immediate neighbors at the table. But, we’ll know better next time.

Okolina Skadarlije - ulice paralelne Knez Mihailovoj (Simina. Gospodar Jevremova, Gospodar Jovanova i Skender Begova), kao i ulice poprečne na Knez Mihailovu, pripadaju 3. zoni (označena je zelenom tablom na više mesta duž ulice), ali se 3. zona ne naplaćuje od subote u 14 h pa sve do ponedeljka ujutro. Maksimalno zadržavanje u zelenoj zoni je 3 sata, a sat vremena košta 20 dinara i parkiranje se potvrđuje svaki sat. To praktično znači da se vozilo parkirano u 11 sati u zelenoj zoni može zadržati na istom parking mestu do 14 sati (pošto je subota, to važi do ponedeljka ujutro). Ukupan trošak za 3 sata je 60 dinara. Dovoljno je da se parkira vozilo i pošalje poruka na 9113 (za 3. zonu). U poruci treba da stoji registracija vozila bez razmaknica i pisana velikim slovom. Nakon slanja poruke, stiže potvrda od Parking servisa.

After a hectic day in the office (no time to check what's going on ProZ) I walked to "Dva jelena" and asked the manager about the possibility to make a reservation. As soon as I mentioned a group of translators, the man said: "Oh, but that is already booked, your colleague Aleksandar has already made a reservation." So, we saved our face. Thanks, Jairo, I think your post prompted us all to action. Looking forward to meeting you all, in addition to a couple I already know.

Hi, I've been following the discussion and I'd like to make a few things clear. As you all know I'm the event proposer and the virtual organizer so in this role I confirm that the place to meet is Dva Jelena, 2.00 pm. Saturday, April 14.

I want to thank Mira Stepanovic, Vesna Stankovic and Aleksander Vasiljevic for their great help! Mira will be recording attendance at the event and Vesna and Aleksander will be in charge of verifying identities. So this powwow is taking place and there are a lot of people coming for sure. There is no need to have an official organizer as long as we all know the time, the date and the place and the attendance and id verification processes are covered. So let's have the first Serbian powwow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't see why such a fuss about organization and place...there's still time
I learned there will open a vive fest in Sava centar on 14th and was just going to check there, and see about the nearby restaurants... It's a nice place and event to gather together , try the vines and the food (they'll have that, too) and afterwards go to a nearby restaurant if we are still hungry or just to a cafe if still thirsty:))) or whatever we agree about
think about this suggestion and let us know

Hey guys!
I hope that you're all as optimistic about this pow as Mr. Jadilla. If there is no one to organize the meeting, let's just meet in Dva Jelena at 14:00 Saturday! I know I'll come for sure!
There should be enough room for 30 people anytime... if not, well - we can split and meet on a casual walk after lunch...
I am not quite sure what organization of this pow means, but if it's only about calling a restaurant and reserving tables, I'll do it!
Please, be quick to respond cause Saturday is nearing at a quick pace!

I will be there on Saturday at 14 in Dve jelene. I do not care if there will be a POW or not. This is is an absolut lack of oraganization! If we are unable to organiza a POW, let's us pray for organizing a trade union. Absolutely umbelivable? And of course, we can organize it in Niš or Glibobac.... So, 14.00, saturday in DVE JELENE. Evo i moj mali doprinos: na Rominin predlog, prošla sam ProZ proceduru i dobila ovlašćenje za VID svakom od učesnika koji to želi (izgleda da sam ja jedina od prijavljenih koja to ima, a to je bio prvi uslov). Same organizacije se, nažalost, ne mogu prihvatiti i samo mogu da apelujem na nekog od nas tridesetak prijavljenih - ko ima ideje, a možda i iskustva u sličnim stvarima, da se i zvanično za to prijavi i omogući nam ovaj susret.

Since Saturday is just around the corner, it would be good to know if Powwow will really take place. Vesna's suggestion about Powwow organizer is fine by me, provided Ljiljana is still interested enough. I would like to meet other translators but the interest in Powwow seems to be discouraging recently...I am currently away from Belgrade, but I will be there on Friday anyway. I hope that others will join the discussion and that we will meet one another after all. Regards!

Hi folks,

I do not want to meddle in the organization of this powwow, as I'm not even going to attend.
I organized seveal powwows in Budapest, and it's really very simple. You simply pick a conveniently located restaurant or a café, preferrably with a separate room (e.g. in a cellar or somehow isolated from the rest of the establishment). If there's much noise in the restaurant, you will not hear each other talking.
My impression is, after about 8 powwows in Budimpesta is that roughly 60% of the people who signed up will actually come.
If I were the organizer of this powwow, I would now find a place for about 25-30 people. You should explain to the restaurant staff that everyone will pay for their own consumption. Some places demand a down payment when you book an entire room, try to avoid such places.

I've been to Belgrade several times (once in 1980, then about every second year since 1999). Skadarlija is one of my favourite areas. There are some trendy cafés in the neighbouring streets, especially Strahinjica Bana, if I'm not mistaken.

Also, as I notice, there's no actual organizer yet. You should know that the organizer is entitled to 2000 BrowniZ points, and each participant will receive 200 BrowniZ points. About 24 hours after the powwow date and time, the organizer will be able to access a special sub-page of this powwow shere she/he can record actual attendance by entering the participants' Proz.com ID's. Also, it will be possible to write reports and upload photos.

U Skadarliji ima nekoliko odgovarajucih restorana koji bi nam odvojili separe za ovaj sastanak -ja sam nekoliko puta bila u takvim 'situacijama' pa evo preuzimam da se raspitam u tim restoranima i javim gde su nam obecali separe-no treba da znam bar PRIBLIZAN broj onih koji ce prisustvovati
I nema razloga za zurbu-ionako ce biti guzva za Uskrs, i sve rezervacije se prave za tu priliku, tako da posle ima sasvim dovoljno vremena za dogovor
Vazno je da smo odredili datum i vreme
pozdrav, i srecne uskrsnje praznike avima zeli

Dear all,

I've been following the discussion and I've noticed that the day and time have been defined (April 14 at 2 pm. Good!:) ) So I think it 'd be a good idea for us to vote on one of the two restaurants in Skadarlija proposed so that we all know the exact place where to meet.

Since this is the first powwow ever in Belgrade and we don't know how many people will show up I think meeting at a restaurant is the best option. We can leave the conference hall for a second powwow. The place should be defined as soon as possible.
