Hi there,
I attended the virtual conference last month but would like to watch some of the presentations I missed, I thought they were available to watch for 90 days after the conference but I don't seem to be able to access them?
Am I trying at the wrong place or did I get this wrong? (I am not a feature member, in case the access is not at the same place for non members)

Thank you for organising a great conference !

"At" the conference I sent an e-mail to someone who was registered to attend but wasn't online at the time I sent the message, probably due to time differences (I don't even know if they finally attended the event at all).
Will the person have received the message anyway, or would they have had to attend to receive it ?

Dear Site Staff,
Thank you very much for this conference. It was my first experience of taking part in a virtual conference and I really enjoyed it. But since it was my first time I didn't even know I could save anything in the briefcase. :-? Next time I'll know :-)
Overall, it was a great experience. My request for the future is the same as some of my colleagues have already expressed: it would be great if the on-demand content could be downloadable.

Thank you all for participating in the 2nd annual ProZ.com virtual conference celebrating International Translation Day.

Regarding attendee certificates and attendance notifications - we will be working on these, please be patient as it may be a few more days until we have them ready to deliver.

Regarding the documents and content that was downloaded (and can still be downloaded) to your briefcase. These can be downloaded at anytime before December 30th, 2010.

To download your briefcase documents please re-enter the virtual environment by clicking on the link "Virtual environment" at the top of the [url removed] page

When you log back in to the environment, you will see on the bottom navigation bar a small image of a briefcase - simply click on this icon, and you will have a new window open with ability to download all or selected documents, then click download. The files and documents will be first zipped for compression, you will then have to "click here to download" and the zip file will automatically start downloading via your browser.

If you do not have a zip program (zip files need to be uncompressed) you can use the free zip program [url removed]

It was a great conference and it was nice to chat with so many fellow translators :) The topics were selected, I think, based on forum discussions and quick polls, because they suited perfectly our main needs (marketing, rates, CAT Tools, etc.) Thank you for everything!

As other posters already said, I am wondering where to get the certificate, how can we find the content of the briefcase and where can we find information about prize winners (just out of curiosity).

Yesterday, I asked the question during the conference to the ProZ Support booth. Alejandro told me that I could access my briefcase until the end of December. But I forgot to ask him : from where ?
I have the same problem than Juan.

The conference was very interesting indeed - most of the presentations were informative and impressive (although the sound was not always good). I wish I could keep some of them.
I did have problems with the chats - too crowded and hard to follow. It was one of the best opportunities and I am sorry I could not use it to the fullest. Maybe ProZ should initiate chats on a certain topics through Skype or Facebook - it does not demand additional resources but may contribute a lot to participants.
I did not understand the prize matter - did not find any info beside the prizes' descriptions. Maybe the participants should know how many points they have... I did not count for a prize but a license was offered - with pleasure! :-)

All in all it was a very nice event. Thanks to ProZ team for working hard on our behalf :-)

I also want my little patch :-) After all, I spent 13 hours on the Conference :-)

I found it very interesting, lively, and even its small bugs made it really close to the "real life".
The chat rooms had this indefinable flavour of the exquisite corpse the Surrealist Group was so fond of, and some presentations were worth the effort to find them.

A less pleasant aspect : some exhibitors, mainly agencies, did not even manage to be present. We were chatting in the sidereal emptiness of the universe . Maybe they thought they had to be there only to collect data from translators, without any effort :-(

Awaiting for next year !!

Is there a possibility to put a logo or something on our websites to show that we attended the conference? Like you can do sometimes with those fancy pieces of paper you get at IRL conferences and which you can put up in you office (the paer, that is, not the conerence :-) )? And of course: could we put a link in that logo to something about the conference? Something like "Motte was here." Would be a nice addition to a site or blog.

I look forward to next year too, but maybe they should change the system a bit for the discussions.
Chats are slow when they are crowded. If chats are popular, it becomes difficult to follow the messages because the fly over the screen. Also: you can only attend 1 chat at a time. And finally: chat systems in itself can slow down the computer.
I wonderd why they didn't use a system like yahoogroups? I think it would make it much easier to attend chats. The amount of chats you follow would be unlimited, the messages could be read at your own pace, you could decide to save important messages, and it would slow down the computers that much. Moreover: I think it could also relieve the organisation's technical equipment, which would make it easier for the other elements of the conference.

This is my first Virtual Conference, here's my testimonial.

The conference was just wonderful. The panel discussions, the group chat, focused Powwows, the recruitment booths and of course the CAT tools buyers' section.

The 99$ subscription was such a brilliant thing, my friend subscribed as soon as he saw this discount :) but not for me as I don't have the money yet :).

I had no technical problems at all. Everything worked fine with me. But you need a fast connection, something not less than 1mbps.

I just completed the conference survey but forgot to mention something.

I have been working as a translator for eighteen years and found many of the points raised and comments made in the sessions repetitive. I think it would be good, in future virtual conferences, if there could be separate sessions/virtual powwows for translators with five years or more experience. Obviously, once you have been in the profession for several years, your needs and your perspective on things change, and it would be good for experienced professionals to interact with each other in a less "crowded" virtual area.

Thanks, once again, to the ProZ staff for organising this event, and I'm looking forward to the next one!

but I had way more trouble actually attending the panels this year.

The browser would just hang, or I would get completely non-helpful error messages telling me to click on the help button - which didn't exist.

The fix was always restarting the browser. So I restarted my browser at least 5 times throughout the day.

Then there were the fairly frequent audio problems. I'm chalking it up to the increase in attendance: if I remember correctly, last year had about half of this year's attendance.

In any case, I'm glad the sessions will be made available to go back and listen to again.

I was totally overwhelmed by the abundance of content and, in fact, I'm trying to find out how to get back to the darn conference to see if I can listen to at least one session from beginning to end. I found myself jumping from event to event, because I was worried I was somehow "missing out". In the end, this meant that I really didn't meet anyone. The chats, as others have said, where equally 'schizo' in that all I saw was people introducing themselves and then that was it, end of the conversation. I'm also totally bummed that at 6:00 pm EST it's all already over. How can that be? I had a full work day and participated about 20 minutes at lunch time and was hoping to now really jump in and participate and it's over now. I mentioned that in the post event survey. Somehow, things should stay open for those of us who work the full day and are located in the EST time zone (East Coast of the U.S.). For those in the PST time zone (West Coast of the U.S.) it probably was even worse given the time difference with GMT. In any case, I actually liked last year's conference better. It seemed more manageable. One thing I do want to know, is there a way to get back and check some of the discussions or sessions/presentations on our own time? Thanks for any tips. I also don't know who won the prizes and how that was done. I read the prize info. (I mean, hey, who doesn't want to win a prize, right?) and I was still confused. So, is there a listing of who won what? Thanks ProZ for doing such a huge effort, but maybe a bit too huge? I imagine I'm in the minority here with this opinion, but again, my feeling was one of being totally overwhelmed.

You know, the most amusing thing was having all those people around wondering where to find the "rooms" they wanted to go to. At times, the "auditorium" sounded more like the information counter of a convention centre.

Maybe next time there should be a preliminary guide around the "venue". I made a quip about a seminar on how to attend virtual seminars and was surprised to find so many people who agreed.

A good conference in general, however, the chat windows were overcrowded, to the point of it being impossible to follow a sentence from start to finish, it kept jumping up with every new entry.
Functionality wise, this conference was better than last year's and I'm sure next year will outdo this one.
