Post title: This session was interesting, but slightly disheartening too

It confirmed my suspicions that jobs advertised on the jobs board are aimed at translators who will work for very low rates, and the presenter of the session said that only the first few people who apply for these jobs are likely to get a response. The client/agency advertising the job will accept the first person who comes along with a very cheap rate. Useful information - I won't be bothering to apply for any of those jobs anymore.

The other thing that the presenter emphasised was that the only good way of getting work through ProZ is through being contacted directly by clients who find you through a directory search. He advocated a passive approach - wait for the client to find you. However, he stated that in order to stand a chance of being "found," it is essential that you appear on page one of the directory, and this is achieved by accumulating sufficient kudoz points in your specialization. Obviously, the profile needs to be excellent too, so that when you have managed to get your profile onto the first page, the potential client will be impressed enough to offer work.

Certificates for this event have been released to all attendees that attended during the live hours on September 30th. The Certificate is available as a downloadable PDF in your ProZ.com profile under "Conferences attended" you may need to expand the profile view if you're displaying "about me" as your main profile section.

Hi Drew,

I had registered for this session unfortunately I was unable to view the video. It did not play at all. I refreshed the page as you had suggested however it was not successful. Is there any way I can view the video now as well? I would really like to go through this.

I understand that the video has been available since the start time (10:00 GMT) but I can't find the information on how long the on-demand videos will be available to watch. Will I still be able to watch them tomorrow, or next week, or next month, etc?

I says "was" when it hasn´t even started..

Last nght happened the same, Iwas just having a look at today´s conferences and it said ended but it was sept 28th..

I think I am already registered as yesterday, ita says checked in, but then it turns out not to be be registered... I am worried and confused.
can you help me? tks!

The event takes place Sept 29-30th. The on-demand content means you can watch this video at anytime you want, once the event starts. So starting Sept 3oth at 10:00 GMT you will be able to watch this, and any of the on-demand videos.
