Forum: CAT Tools Technical Help
Topic: Redokun
Poster: Samuel Murray
Post title: Youtube video, and screenshot

Youtube video:
[url removed]

Screenshot of editor:

Fuzzy matches cause the boxes to spread apart to make room for the matches:

Or, export source text to XLIFF, ODS or XLSX, translate in your own CAT tool, and import the translations. From what I can tell, the target text tags must be in the same order as the source text tags. Indeed, if you export to Excel, the tags are all # characters and are not numbered.

In the editor, if you click the "Confirm" button, it locks the file for the translator, and only the document owner (client) can unlock it again. MT tools available are Google Translate and DeepL. The pre-translate process always uses MT, after leveraging 100% matches from the TM.

A cool feature is that you can specify that a new document is actually a new version of a previously translated document, and Redokun will recall all of the settings and TM from the previous document. Useful if you translate into multiple languages.

The fuzzy match boxes show what text was added or removed. Curiously, it shows the target language at the top and the source language at the bottom:

Possibly useful (but it involves a lot of mousework): you can search your TMs, and then jump directly to the relevant document from within the TM manager if you want to make an edit to a document based on a search result in the TM. TM import supports TMX and their own Excel TM format.

The YouTube channel contains a number of other videos, but unfortunately many of those videos just mention features without displaying them:
[url removed] @RedokunHQ/videos

[Edited at 2024-12-19 21:04 GMT]

All the features are accessible directly via a browser, without the need to install software on the computer.
In my experience, I don't like web-based editors.
