... but would just like to clarify that I did NOT add the 'Japanese Yen' to the poll. I have no clue why ProZ would think this currency is more relevant than so many others...

Despite all the prophets of doom and gloom, I think the euro is here to stay for the foreseeable future.

Japanese yen Sep 26, 2013

Stands to reason since over 95% of my customers are over here in the Land of the Rising Yen.
On the odd occasions that I do get work from the UK or the US, the translation rate is calculated on a "so many yen per source character" basis which makes like soooo much easier for me.

@Gitte
Glad Japanese Yen was included as an option. Otherwise, I really would have felt the "minoritiness" of my language pair.

Danish Kroner Sep 26, 2013

I voted National Currency, as most of my income is paid in DKK and I live in Denmark.

I invoice UK clients in GBP and have an account in the UK, because that makes life easier for them and I save bank charges - I always have Sterling available for trips to the UK.

Otherwise I accept what the client offers, which generally means Euros, or occasionally dollars via PayPal, just as long as they pay on time!

My clients are in a far better position than me to absorb exchange rate fluctuations

Nowadays, in practice that means either GDP or EUR. There was a time when USD also featured prominently, but, with the weak dollar, US clients no longer seem to be able to afford my services.

Mostly Euro but also a fair amount of US (and Canadian) dollar and Pound sterling but will only quote in Euro, Sterling or dollar.

prefer Euro since there's no exchange rate fee
