I said "somewhat," because I try to pace myself, take breaks, exercise, go to bed on time, etc., but more often than I'd like I end up with challenges that keep me burning the midnight oil in a rather stressed condition.
I'm pretty good at not working up stories in my head that I don't need to listen to. If things don't go my way, I've learned not to dwell on whatever it was and move on. | | | | Marijke Singer Обединето Кралство Local time: 17:30 шпански на англиски + ... | My thoughts exactly | Apr 1, 2015 |

I agree. The secret is knowing what your capacity is and always allowing a slight margin. This is something that you learn with experience. I suppose you could say that the measure I take to reduce stress, indeed to eliminate it, is never to take on assignments that are beyond my capacity. | | | |
I don’t stress as much as I used to… In the beginning I pulled numerous all-nighters in the process of meeting deadlines and I’m sure I have gained a few gray hairs, but now I know myself quite well, I’m still extremely motivated, I understand my limitations, I learned to say “no”, I take time out for myself and I never bite off more than I can chew! | | | | Richard Jenkins Бразил Local time: 12:30 Член (2006) португалски на англиски + ... | To some extent | Apr 1, 2015 |
I get much more stressed when I go through periods with NO work. That's really stressful. Otherwise, I learn to disconnect and do something that is non-translation related like watching a film or taking the dog for a walk, just to take my mind off it. It helps, because you come back more motivated and with a clearer head. And good sleep really helps.

I tried yoga and therapy but found I had even less time to get my work done. So now I just smoke lots of weed. | | | | Mario Chavez (X) Local time: 11:30 англиски на шпански + ... | I translate fewer words per day whenever possible | Apr 1, 2015 |
You didn't expect that, did you?
I recently gave a presentation titled Keep calm and translate slowly, on the importance to find our own pace to take the necessary time to read, write and translate more slowly and therefore more peacefully and with less stress.
Nothing of that productivity nonsense. | | | | Mario Chavez (X) Local time: 11:30 англиски на шпански + ...

Same here...until I learned to be disciplined about keeping savings for a rainy day. That is, a reserve that grows with the days of much work, and which gives me peace of mind and keeps me away from stress during the days of little work. | | | | Triston Goodwin Соединети Американски Држави Local time: 09:30 шпански на англиски + ... | I need to do more... | Apr 1, 2015 |
I have a couple of hobbies that I use to clear my head and relax. Aside from video games, I also make props for things like movies and cosplayers. I primarily use a technique/program called pepakura that takes a 3d model and turns it into something like origami. I then cut out, fold, and glue all the pieces together to make all kinds of different things.

There are times when the workload seems daunting, especially if I'm working on long-term projects. I make sure I go for a walk every day to clear my head, and have a couple of holidays a year when my out-of-office is firmly on and I will absolutely under no circumstances take on any jobs! | | | | Georgie Scott Франција Local time: 17:30 француски на англиски + ...

No stress Tim? I bet you're one of those people that can serve dinner without worrying that you haven't divided up the portions equally
