Electronic funds transfer Jun 17, 2021

I always pay translators I work with by electronic bank transfer. These payments relate more often to revision of my work than to translation per se. I never outsource work from English, French, Spanish and Italian into European Portuguese (my work languages), but I have outsourced work when my regular customers have requests for languages I don't cover and I have been working with the same tested, approved and trusted translators for ages (some are Prozians). When the request comes from a potential new client and I’m not available or I don’t cover that particular language combination I prefer recommending specific translators.

By the way, cheques are rarely used in many countries in Europe. The last one I used it must have been in over 15 years.

I am not an agency, so I never outsource.

Can't say I've ever had a reason to outsource Jun 17, 2021

Though I think if I had to pay anyone, I'd go for bank transfer. Much easier on fees.
Whenever folks paid me via Paypal, I'd be T H R I L L E D to see how much of my hard work got taken away by the site.

I very rarely outsource, but occasionally I've worked with other trusted translators to whom I've passed work that falls outside my own areas of expertise, with the agreement that I do the final revision.

I agree with Theresa about cheques - the mere suggestion makes me throw up my hands in horror. An agency in the US recently tried to pay me by cheque and I've since stopped doing business with them.

This is the 21st century, after all.
