The common name for these snails in English is Triton's trumpet, or Triton snail. The largest, Charonia tritonis, is called the Triton's trumpet or giant triton, and there is also Charonia variegata, known as the Atlantic or Caribbean Triton's trumpet. So it's an eminently suitable translation here, since the subject is the use of these shells to make sounds.
