Tyre wear and tear
Hello
If you make a turn which is too tight for a truck and trailer, which has
medfört ***ränder*** i däcken;
what are the "ränder" called In English?
I don't think they are stripes
I've looked at common types of tyre damage (cracks, bulges etc) but can't find a word that could be "ränder"
Thanks in advance

rub marks
I tend to agree with Erik's discussion point that this is not the right Swedish word. Slitstänger or slitmärken would be better.
Thus 'Rand' should be translated as stripe, strip or band, but here rub mark or chafe mark would be clearer.

Example sentence:
däck gick 35 000 mil innan slitstängerna dök upp.
the tyre lasted 350,000 km before the rub marks appeared

: scrub is used for this type of tyre chafing.

"Scrub marks" are marks left on the road- see https://www.globalsecurity.org/military/library/policy/army/... and https://www.tcreconstruction.com/types-of-tyre-marks/. See discusision.

crack, cracks
"Tire cracks", or "tire cracking" is the correct and common expression to describe tire deformity due to stress, etc.

Discussion
I used scrub marks at the end which some of you mentioned but was not a posted suggestion. Thanks

But I can't help thinking that the scrub marks left on the road must match those in the tyre.
And I don't have anything else to go with so I may well end up choosing "scrub" marks
They also used "bromsplatta" for "flat spot" on the tyre whereas "bromsplatta" is normally a part of a the brake system. That too took me ages to resolve too.
