Qualifica

Italian to English Other Education / Pedagogy School Report
In una pagella trovo: promozione, idoneità, qualifica.
Se traduco promozione con passing, idoneità con qualification come posso tradurre qualifica?

In un precedente kudoz è tradotto con name, ma non mi convince.

Grazie per qualsiasi suggerimento.

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): Tom in London

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

Nick Pell Jul 17, 2022:
Dear Phil, please see the added note in my answer to understand why grade is the wrong answer.
philgoddard Jul 16, 2022:
There are three glossary entries saying "grade", which makes sense to me. I don't think "qualification" fits the context.

Vocational qualification

Just to answer to Phil, I attach here an example of a real "Pagella".
As you can see the sentence "Promozione, Idoneità, Qualifica" is found in page 4 under the list of annotations/call-outs with number 1.
Annotation 1 is found in page 1 with "TITOLO DI AMMISSIONE", that is title for admission (to the following year or to the final exam).
Grades as a translation would therefore make no sense.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Grazie mille"

Qualification

For idoneo I would use eligible/eligibility for exam and then qualification (achieved). However, it would help to see more of the report and the type of qualification.
Note from asker:
Grazie. Comunque è una pagella di scuola superiore (liceo linguistico).

diploma awarded

I found some instances where "qualifica" is translated as "degree". But since it seems that the qualification was not earned at a university but at a lower-level institution, it would make more sense to go with "diploma", IMO.
