I hope our community can help me out here - I'm translating some pages in a book called "Political And Analytical Challenges Of Corruption In Latin America", and I'm searching for a correspondent term in german for "government size" in the following sentence:

Although many theoretical writings also allude to the size of government as a determinant of corruption, empirical studies show no firm correlation between government spending and corruption.
