advection fog

GBK English to German Science Meteorology
Definition from NExTclass.net:
A fog caused by the movement of warm, moist air over a surface with a temperature less than the dew point of the air. Also called sea fog.
Example sentences:
Unlike radiation fog, advection fog can occur even when it is windy. Also unlike radiation fog, advection fog can occur when the skies aloft are initially cloudy. (theweatherprediction.com)
Southerly flow of unseasonably warm, moist air (temperatures of +20 to +26 C, dew points of +14 to +16 C) over the relatively cool (generally +2 to +5 C) water of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron contributed to the development of large advection fog plumes during the day on 16 April 2002. (CIMSS/SSEC/University-Wisconsin-Madison)
Advection fog is common along the Pacific Coast since surface water along the coast is much colder than the surface water farther offshore. As warm, moist air from the Pacific Ocean moves over the colder coastal waters it is chilled from below , lowering it to its dew point forming fog. (stormdisplay.weatherbug.com)

Definition from own experience or research:
Synonyme: Meeresnebel
Example sentences:
(Wolkengallerie)
