Dear Jack Slep, I agree with you regarding how people call it, but IMHO, I think, it is a menu or description of that фаланга краба, which is Meatiest and longest part, so it must be rendered as clear as it is.

Detach the upper arm (merus) from the forearm (propodus) by twisting and pulling at the elbow (carpus). If done properly, the upper arm meat should slide out in one softly connected, purpled piece. If there is still meat inside, use your molars, a nut cracker, or a wooden mallet to crack the upper arm enough to break in with your fingers and peel back the shell to reveal the meat.

In the anatomical meaning phalange is the singular wikidiff: As nouns the difference between phalange and phalanx is that phalange is (anatomy) one of the bones of the finger or toe, also called phalanx while phalanx is a large group of people, animals or things, compact or closely massed, or tightly knit and united in common purpose.

To Turdimurove Etymologically they are the same, but in meaning they are different (as wikidiff says). Phalanx is an army and phalange is a bone.

Боюсь, что в русском кто-то далекий от анатомии беспозвоночных когда-то назвал эту часть конечности краба (членик) фалангой, не задумываясь, а мы теперь имеем возможность наблюдать последствия.

Не буду спорить, хотя мне кажется, что к строению конечностей у членистоногих даже в русском более подходит слово сегмент, а фаланга относится к трубчатым костям пальцев позвоночных.// Членик! - они же членистоногие)

Yes, picture shows LEG, no phalanx. Maryland blue crab legs label Maryland blue crab legs cooked, Maryland blue crab legs fall off . Delicious, the best!. Take care, my drug (friend, not opioid!)
