If two identifiers have the same name and are declared in the same scope, they are said to be overloaded. Often an overloaded identifier is a bug that gets trapped as a compile-time error. For example, if you declare two local variables with the same name in the same method, you get a compile-time error. Similarly, if you declare two fields with the same name in the same class or two identical methods in the same class, you also get a compile-time error. This fact might seem hardly worth mentioning, given that everything so far has turned out to be a compile-time error. However, there is a way that you can overload an identifier, and that way is both useful and important.
Consider the WriteLine method of the Console class. You have already used this method for outputting a string to the screen. However, when you type WriteLine in the Code and Text Editor window when writing C# code, you will notice that IntelliSense gives you 19 different options! Each version of the WriteLine method takes a different set of parameters; one implementation takes no parameters and simply outputs a blank line, another implementation takes a bool parameter and outputs a string representation of its value (true or false), yet another implementation takes a decimal parameter and outputs it as a string, and so on. At compile time, the compiler looks at the types of the arguments you are passing in and then calls the version of the method that has a matching set of parameters. Here is an example:

Source text - English Airwell Germany has been officially distributing VRF FlowLogic products in its local market since October 1, 2007. It all began with 14 days of precision work in which a mobile VRF FlowLogic system was installed with a 22 KW outdoor unit, 5 indoor units and all the control components.
Mounted on 3 euro pallets, this mobile system and all currently available indoor units were used to train our sales staff and service technicians in-house.
The FlowLogic team, headed by Thomas Witthoff Sales Manager RAC VRF, Germany, with Jצrg Taube, Product Manager VRF and one employee from engineering (alternately, Uwe Mohr, Rene Cloos and Mathias Spiegel) then spent 6 weeks touring 15 German cities. The selected venues were high-profile sites including soccer stadiums such as Veltins Arena AufSchalke, and the Olympic Stadium in Munich, a tennis arena (Gerry Weber Stadium) and other attractive locations such as the Speicherstadt warehouse district in Hamburg and Schuhbecks at Egelsbach Airport.

Source text - Hebrew כלי הברונזה היוו גורם מרכזי בטקסים, בפולחנים ובחיים היומיומיים של השושלות הקדומות. מרבית כלי הברונזה הזמינים לנו הם מתקופת שושלת שָאנְג (1550-1050 לפנה"ס לערך) ושושלת ג’וֹאוּ (1046-771 לפנה"ס). חלק מהכתובות המופיעות על הכלים מורכבות מסימניות אחדות אשר מייצגות משפחה או שושלת מסוימת וחלקן מגוללת אירוע בעל חשיבות כגון כיבושים צבאיים, בריתות, מפגשים או טקסים חשובים. אורכן הממוצע של הודעות אלו נע בין 20 ל-50 סימניות אולם ישנן כתובות אחדות הכוללות יותר מ-200 סימניות(Chang, 1986: 297/8).
למרות המספר הרב של כלי ברונזה שנמצאו עד-כה, מלבד ממצא אחד, אין כל אזכור לשושלת סיָא. ממצא זה מתוארך למאה ה-7 לפנה"ס, ובתוכו חרוט הכיתוב "צ'נג טָאנְג...זכה במנדט השמיים...לתקוף את סיָא" (Creel, 194: 101). הכתובת מתייחסת לקרב בו הביס טָאנְג את אחרון שליטיה של שושלת סיָא, ג'יה, ובכך הקים את שושלת שָאנְג. השאלה המתבקשת היא מדוע לא מופעים אזכורים מוקדמים יותר לניצחון בקרב זה בכתובות ברונזה אחרות, ובמיוחד לאור האופי ההיסטורי של כתובות אלו.
Translation - English Bronze vessels were a key element in the ceremonies, rituals and everyday life of the ancient dynasties. Most of the ancient bronze vessels available to us date to the Shang period (app. 1550-1050 B.C.) and the Zhou period (1046-771 B.C.). Some of the inscriptions that can be found on the vessels comprise several characters that represent certain royal families, while others narrate significant events such as wars, conquests, alliances, or important rituals. These massages usually consist of 20 to 50 characters, but some of them include more then 200 characters (Chang, 1986: 297/8).
In spite of the numerous bronze artifacts found to date, the Xia dynasty is not mentioned on any of the bronze vessels except one. This vessel dates to the 7 century B.C. and on the inside of it there is an inscription that says that “Cheng Tang … Received Heaven's Decree…to attack Hsia [Xia]” (creel, 194: 101). This inscription relates to the battle in which Tang defeated Jie, the last of the Xia’s rulers, and thus founded the Shang dynasty. The fact that this event is only mentioned once is peculiar, especially when bearing in mind the historical nature of these inscriptions.
