Source text - English
A syndrome of potentially irreversible, involuntary, dyskinetic movements may develop in patients treated with antipsychotic drugs. Although the prevalence of the syndrome appears to be highest among the elderly, especially elderly women, it is impossible to rely upon prevalence estimates to predict, at the inception of antipsychotic treatment, which patients are likely to develop the syndrome. Whether antipsychotic drug products differ in their potential to cause tardive dyskinesia is unknown.

The risk of developing tardive dyskinesia and the likelihood that it will become irreversible are believed to increase as the duration of treatment and the total cumulative dose of antipsychotic drugs administered to the patient increase. However, the syndrome can develop, although much less commonly, after relatively brief treatment periods at low doses.

There is no known treatment for established cases of tardive dyskinesia, although the syndrome may remit, partially or completely, if antipsychotic treatment is withdrawn. Antipsychotic treatment, itself, however, may suppress (or partially suppress) the signs and symptoms of the syndrome and thereby may possibly mask the underlying process. The effect that symptomatic suppression has upon the long-term course of the syndrome is unknown.

Bio
I am a Portuguese native speaker with the FB Certificate of English from Cambridge Institute, I attended a language superior course at Porto University, Portugal; a specialisation course in medical language in Lisbon and I have been working as a freelance translator for 19 years, with all sorts of translation/proofreading/editing jobs, in such diverse themes as medicine, tourism, engineering or games. I specialise in English into Portuguese (both European and Brazilian) translations.

I also translate extensively from Spanish to Portuguese even though I do not hold any certifications in Spanish. My knowledge of Spanish is due to personal and work reasons.

I have some experience in voice-over,  audio and video transcriptions and managing social media corporate pages.

I use Trados and other CAT tools.

I'm a full-time translator, working over the weekend and holidays, so I'm always available to meet the needs of my clients.

I work in cooperation with a geologist, I always ask him to read any work I do in that area, or/and ask him for any questions and doubts I have.
