Translation - English The Tale of Sai Weng's Lost Horse
During the Warring States Period, in a town close to the Northern border, there lived an old man named Sai Weng. Sai Weng raised many horses. One day, one of his horses was suddenly missing. When the neighbors heard about it, they came to console him, advising him not to be too anxious about the horse because he was an older man and he should take care of himself. When Sai Weng saw that his neighbors were there to comfort him, he simply smiled and said, "Losing that horse is not a big deal, no one knows what kind of blessing it could bring."
Sai Weng's neighbors felt amused to hear his response. They thought, "Losing one's horse is obviously a bad thing, but he thinks it might be something good... clearly he's just saying that in an effort to comfort himself." A few days later, the lost horse not only returned home to Sai Weng on its own, it also brought back with it something even better: a Hun horse!
When the neighbors heard, they looked upon Sai Weng's foresight with much admiration. They congratulated him, saying, "You still have keen wisdom, Sai Weng! Not only did you not lose your horse, your horse also brought an even better horse back to you! This is truly a blessing."
Sai Weng listened to their congratulatory words, but he was not pleased at all. "It is not necessarily a good thing to have received this horse at no cost. Perhaps some trouble will come of it yet," he pondered aloud anxiously.
The neighbors thought he was simply putting on an act as the shrewdest of elders sometimes do. "Oh, of course he's ecstatic now! He's just intentionally holding it in", they concluded.
Sai Weng had only one son, and he loved to ride horses. He discovered that the newly arrived Hun horse was full of spirit with large, wide hooves, a resounding neigh, and a heroic fierceness. One look revealed that this was an excellent horse. Sai Weng's son went out on the Hun horse every day, and he rode the horse with pride.
One day, he was so delighted that he pushed the Hun horse a bit too far. He made the horse gallop, but the horse stumbled and Sai Weng's son fell off and broke his leg. Once again, the neighbors came to Sai Weng one by one to express their sympathy.
Sai Weng responded, "It's nothing- my son's leg is broken, but he still has his life! Perhaps this is actually a blessing." The neighbors thought he was simply speaking nonsense again. They could not imagine how a broken leg could be any sort of blessing.
Not long after, the Hun army invaded and the young men of the land were enlisted in the army. However, Sai Weng's son was unable to enlist due to his broken leg. The others who went off to fight in the war lost their lives, while Sai Weng's son lived.

-I have a bachelor's degree in Mandarin Chinese from Arizona State University.
-I lived in Chengdu, China for two-and-a-half years, studying Mandarin and teaching English to Chinese kids. I also did a lecture tour in coordination with the China Construction Bank, talking to Chinese parents about how to teach their children about money.
-A few years later, I learned Spanish when I went to visit my sister and brother-in-law in Honduras. I lived with them there for almost a year. That is also where I met my wife! We speak Spanish the majority of the time.
-I have two years of teaching experience. I currently work in the private home hospitality industry in New York City.
-During my years living overseas, I helped friends and university students with translation projects on a regular basis. I enjoy the challenges of translating and being able to put my stamp of approval on a project!
