They seized upon the crisis to tackle shortcomings and mistakes in regulation and supervision. And just to reassure you: they did not just cover them with sauce.
Together, regulators and supervisors from around the world came up with truly new recipes for safe and sound banks. They added new ingredients and introduced new techniques. And despite the fact that many cooks were involved, the broth is good. But is it good enough? Let us take a look.

E mudou, sem dúvida, a forma de pensar e agir das entidades reguladoras e supervisoras, que aproveitaram a crise para resolver falhas e corrigir erros existentes na regulação e na supervisão. E podem ficar descansados que não os cobriram simplesmente com molho.
Entidades reguladoras e supervisoras de todo o mundo juntaram-se e criaram receitas realmente originais para conferir segurança e solidez aos bancos. Source text - German Der Verwaltungsrat hat die weitestgehenden Befugnisse alle Handlungen vorzunehmen, welche zur Verwirklichung des Gesellschaftszweckes notwendig sind oder diesen fördern.
Alles was nicht durch das Gesetz oder die gegenwärtige Satzung der Hauptversammlung vorbehalten ist, fällt in den Zuständigkeitsbereich des Verwaltungsrates.
Der Verwaltungsrat kann aus seiner Mitte einen Vorsitzenden bestellen, in dessen Abwesenheit kann der Vorsitz einem Verwaltungsratsmitglied übertragen werden.
Der Verwaltungsrat ist nur beschlussfähig wenn die Mehrzahl seiner Mitglieder anwesend oder vertreten ist, die Vertretung durch ein entsprechend bevollmächtigtes Verwaltungsratsmitglied, die schriftlich, telegraphisch oder fernschriftlich erfolgen kann, ist gestattet. In Dringlichkeitsfällen kann die Abstimmung auch durch einfachen Brief, Telegramm oder Fernschreiben erfolgen.
Die Beschlüsse des Verwaltungsrates werden mit Stimmenmehrheit gefasst, bei Stimmengleichheit entscheidet die Stimme des Vorsitzenden.

Todas as matérias que não estejam reservadas à assembleia geral, nos termos da lei ou dos presentes estatutos, recaem no âmbito de competências do conselho de administração.
O conselho de administração pode designar um presidente de entre os seus membros; na sua ausência, a presidência poderá ser exercida por outro membro do conselho de administração.
O conselho de administração não pode deliberar sem que esteja presente ou representada a maioria dos seus membros. É permitido fazer-se representar por outro administrador, mediante procuração atribuída por carta, por telegrama ou por fax. Em casos urgentes, o voto também pode ser expresso por carta simples, telegrama ou fax.
As deliberações do conselho de administração são tomadas por maioria de votos, tendo o presidente voto de qualidade em caso de empate.
