English to Thai: Exerp from Lanna: Faith and Beliefs
Source text - English Buddhism is flourishing in the upper northern part of Thailand. I has created cultural awareness as well as big changes in Law, governmental systems, language, alphabet, art, social values and traditions. These changes have gradually been incorporated and eventually have become part of Lanna culture. Since art and architecture in Lanna arise from strong Buddhist belief, understanding Buddhism is a perfect means to truly understand the art and culture of Lanna society.
I am very hard working and I can work very well under time pressure. I'm an English lecturer at English Department, Faculty of Humanities, Chiang Mai University. I 'm experienced in translation ranging from general articles to the book used to promote Lanna culture which I translated from Thai to English. I am also an editor myself. The book is published by the Faculty of Fine Arts, Chiang Mai University. I also work with local bilingual magazines: I translate from Thai to English articles concerning Chiang Mai culture, fashion, restaurant review etc. Moreover, I have a chance to work on translating handbooks for appliances such as vacuum cleaner, computer or printer etc. In term of work in interpreting area, I am an interpreter in several conferences with more than 100 participants. I enjoy it very much and I usually receive some good feedback. I also have experiences in translation in French but mostly only from French to Thai.
