I translate/proofread/edit English to Swedish and am also fluent in English as I worked for 50 years in USA, S.Africa, England, Australia. My name is Ann-Charlotte Minnaar;
I have been translating for 6 years - first 3 years pro bono and last 2 years commercially. My early education was in Swedish language and literature and World Religions and I am proficient in those fields. I also studied physics, chemistry and mathematics so am somewhat familiar with those subjects.
My translation experience on the pro bono material was 45 pages of a court of law decision from Australia, 42 pages of medical texts and some promotional and education texts.
Professionally I have translated a total of 139 projects and approximately 260,000 words.
What I enjoy the most is communicating in all types of fields - thus turned into the field of translations/proofreading/editing last 5 years. Additionally my hobbies are gardening, reading and travelling.
My method of handling incoming projects if I am already in progress on another project is to note the the deadline and read through it to see if I am able to do it and in time. Then I communicate back to the client or agency and complete my current project.
For a new project I study it fully to ensure I understand it; study any style log and instructions and then systematically do it segment by segment. I use SDL Trados Studio 2021 and usually do XBench and QA reports. Have now also gotten some experience in XTM and Amazon CAT tools.
I really enjoy what I do and am open to all types in the field of translations!
