Glad to help, Josephina!

neutral Sandra Schlatter : probably technically better, but would you put that in a tourist brochure?

Who knowa,Sandra?
disagree Brigitte Keen-Matthaei : "Schotterweg" is incorrect. I lived on a "graded dirt road" for many years. It was "eine unasphaltierte Straße", certainly not "Schotter", implying stone. Once in a while, a grader would come by and level it again.

In US, Brigitte, gravel roads are "Schotterpisten"; lived on one as well!

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you all for your help. In the described area it is important to distinguis roads that are and are not drivable without 4-wheel drive. So in this case brute's translation fits best. Thanks to the three of you"

Feldweg

oder: unbefestigte Strasse?

not an expert... just intuition
Peer comment(s):

agree Ulrike Lieder (X) : I'd use "unbefestigte Strasse" - Feldweg, by definition, is much smaller.
