Off topic: Looking arabic word in soundfile (Nuon or noon?) Thread poster: lomed

Hello everybody,
I'm intensive looking for the arabic word that is pronounced in the following soundfile:

I have already heard it sounds like 'nuon', 'nuhon' or 'noon'.
Hope someone can help me out, even i dont exactly know IF this is the right place to ask help..

It could well be "noon", which - if indeed this is Arabic - would be the Arabic name for the letter "n". I now keep hearing it "noon" just cause you suggested that, but it could be a lot of other things as well. Really it's just a barely identifiable "whooshy" sound. Hearing it in a bigger context would certainly make it clearer.

Well, i will try to explain the context of the word.
The word is said in a Dutch television show.
The show is all about finding out who the betrayor is in the group candidates.
During the show, the candidates must do tasks to win money.
But the betrayor tries to prevent the group from winning as much money possible.
The rest of the group (and the viewers of the show) must find out who the betrayor is, and every week the candidates make a individual test inclu... See more Well, i will try to explain the context of the word.
The word is said in a Dutch television show.

The rest of the group (and the viewers of the show) must find out who the betrayor is, and every week the candidates make a individual test including questions about the identity of the betrayor.
Following the test, every week someone will be send home, someone who made the worst test results.
And the winner of the show is the one who finds out who the betrayor is.
Now, the show is currently playing in Jordan.
During the show, hidden hints are put into the show, so viewers might puzzle out who the betrayor is.
The sentence is spoken by the candidate of which I think thats she is the betrayor, while she is making the test.
The rest of the sentence is like this:
'When i suspect arabic word of being the betrayor..'
It would be logical if she would say something in Arabic that points to herself. (as a little tip for the viewers)

To me it sounds more and more like "num", which isn't an Arabic word. From your explanation, if I understood it correctly, the word was said in the middle of a Dutch sentence... my first suspicion would be that it's the name of one of the contestants??

Yeah, that's what i as viewer normally would recognize it.
It would be the name of one of the candidates called 'Jon'.
'Jon' is pronounced like the English 'John'
During the show, the same person said numeral times very clearly 'Jon' like you suppose to say it.
But not this time, it's not really Jon, but more like nuon or nuhon..
And in a previous season there was a sort of the same hint.
The 'mole' asked a question: 'Is ego the mole?'

Edo is a name of one candidate, so nobody heard that.

Back to "nun" as I said in my first posting, it's the name of the letter "n". Perhaps it's the initial letter of a contestant.

I have heard that the word is feminine, is that true?
That might be a little hint, pointing out that the 'mole' is a women.
