No sé lo que estoy escribiendo, Celia. No soy poeta. Te estoy hablando del corazón. Te puse en “Honors and Citations” en un sitio llamado ProZ.com… Porque allí perteneces. Supiste traducir los sentimientos de alegría, en ellenguaje más universal: la música. Siempre te ví alegre y sonriente. La gente dice que siempre lo has sido. Anoche tuve la suerte de descubrir parte de tu filosofía personal en tus propias palabras.
Se me está partiendo el corazón, pero tengo que decirte ¡Adiós!

Thanks to have put this in the Honors roll on Proz. I was very moved by your tribute to Celia (especially the bit quoted), though my Spanish is "fake" (I can only read it because I'm Italian and my ear is used to Cuban Spanish as I am fond of salsa music).
I saw Celia in Italy in the Summer 2001 and could not believe she was true: her groove, her energy, her bursting love for music and people have been something I'll never forget. The way she mastered and interacted with the very fine musicians in her band (Alfonse de la Fé among them)... And the way she related with us, small "peones" who went up to her to pay a heart-felt homenaje to all what she has meant and will mean for salsa music and el cubanismo de l'alma...
It might be an off-topic, but Sandra, I think you are very right in recognizing in her one of the greatest "translators" of all times! And her language will live forever.
