Hello there,
Sorry I have not been able to find a relevant topic on the forum so I created one.
Any medical translators available for mentoring? I am new to the field of translation, my language pair is French to English, and my background is in healthcare (I am also a speech and language therapist).

Have you considered joining the ITI Medical and Pharmaceutical Network? https://www.itimedical.co.uk/ It does offer a mentoring programme. I'm pretty sure this year's is already running, though, so maybe an option for next year if you can wait? Aside from that, I would recommend joining anyway - not expensive (£15/year - and you don't have to be an ITI member), there are regular works... See more Hi Megan

Having learned from senior colleagues, I also believe that unlike narrow-purpose hard skills courses, even part-time apprenticing or "internship" is more comprehensive and practical for developing one's personality as a pro (interrelated hard/soft skills and mindset).
Of course, sometimes a self-paced course is enough and not all even highly-qualified specialists can teach and explain it to others, yet watching their real-life work/decisions and asking questions does improve rel...
