Every time an error occurs or when I try to close a file without saving changes, my PC emits a sound. How can I deactivate these sounds? I am using I use Windows XP Professional 5.1 and MS Office 2003. Thanks and regards, AT

Open Control Panel, then Sound and Audio Devices, Sounds tab. From Program Events select those that annoy you (e.g. System error) and set the sound to (None).
