How can I deactivate the sounds that my PC emits?

Every time an error occurs or when I try to close a file without saving changes, my PC emits a sound. How can I deactivate these sounds? I am using I use Windows XP Professional 5.1 and MS Office 2003. Thanks and regards, AT

Open Control Panel, then Sound and Audio Devices, Sounds tab. From Program Events select those that annoy you (e.g. System error) and set the sound to (None).

Does Fn+F2 work? If not, try going into your Control Panel, Sound, and deactivate (mute) all sounds that bother you.

Insert an audio jack 3.5mm in speaker port. However, do not use the headset/earphone

Now you have an easy On/Off solution.

right click on the tray icon Feb 16, 2010

Rigth click on the sound tray icon, choose sound properties and then deactivate sound
