How do I restore autotext in MS Word?

Hello

I am currently unable to automatically generate tables of contents in my MS Word for Windows XP application. Also, when I try to insert a hyperlink, it doesn't work but brings up a strange code. The same happens when I try to insert page numbers.

I would be very grateful for any advice on how to solve this problem.

Field codes Dec 4, 2007

The fields are displayed as codes. Try this in MS Word to display the field contents:

Tools - Options - View - uncheck Field Codes (this applies to all fields).
Or, right-click a field code and select Toggle Field Codes (this applies only to the field you clicked).
