Hello all, please excuse me if my question is redundant.

I am working on a project that involves a lot of XML files.
At the moment I am using the Trados 2007 package, which does the job well, but I have some special requirements and wonder if there are any (freeware) alternatives.

Hello all, please excuse me if my question is redundant.

I am working on a project that involves a lot of XML files.
At the moment I am using the Trados 2007 package, which does the job well, but I have some special requirements and wonder if there are any (freeware) alternatives.

Here's what I'm looking for:

- INTEGRATED terminology recognition with one-click adding and editing of terms
- QUICK batch editing of TM entries
- Based on TBX and TMX (or at least with a decent interface)
- Easy importing of CSV to TBX
- Lets me save bilingual XML in XLIFF format
- Custom dictionary support
- Web MT feature
- No "intermediate" formats or useless project folders
- If possible, editing of XML directly in Word or LibreOffice
- No bulky "project management" features that clog up the UI

In effect it would be something that works like TagEditor + MultiTerm, just way better.

I doubt you'll find freeware that does all that Sep 12, 2011

I think Wordfast Classic fits the bill, although I'm not sure about XLIFF format. Maybe someone who knows more about XLIFF could comment on that aspect.

Swordfish Sep 12, 2011

Swordfish, http://www.maxprograms.com, uses XLIFF as native format; supports TMX, TBX and imports CSV files; support for XML files is fully configurable.

Swordfish is not freeware.

Regards,
Rodolfo
