Brampton lawyer-linguist Suzanne Deliscar will present an online course for translators on the authentication of official documents Sept.16 from 2 – 3 p.m.
The webinar, offered through KTV Kennisnet, is designed to provide translators with an understanding of their role in the translation and preparation of official documents. Deliscar will discuss what official documents are, what a certified translation is from an international perspective, what happens when an official document translation is sent abroad, the notarization/certification, and authentication/legalization process, as well as the role of notaries public, lawyers and commissioners of oaths.
At the end of the course, participants will have learned about their role in the authentication of official documents, and will have in-depth knowledge of how these documents must be prepared in order to be accepted in foreign countries.

This is a critical issue for legal document translators. We are frequently asked how to certify such translation. The authentication processes can be different in certain countries but logic of certification is same.
