I received the same e-mail by a self-proclamed Kathy Morgan. I replied and she said she would pay by check in USD, with a 50% in advance.
What really made me suspicious was that in the signature she wrote an UK address, but in the body mail wrote "Here in the US..."
It's the first time I receive such a targeted scam (she mentioned English to Italian translation, which is my only translation pair). Jeez! The web is going rotten.

I have received it yesterday. It looked quite weird, especially because "she" sent it to an email address completely different from mine.
I hoped someone finally would offer me a job... unfortunately not the case

Nadia, I got exactly the same email, even though I had already told them to leave me alone, and that I would report their fraud to the police if they kept bothering me. I have now told them AGAIN, let's hope this stops.

It was strange and he also sent me attached the document to translate, pretending to know my address. And then let's see this sentence: from English to Italy??? I don't know what to say...it's something horrible!

Angie: Possible explanation: you have 2 visible email addresses in your ATA entry.
Another possible explanation: Other people with whom you are in email contact may have your email address in their address books. If their PCs become infected with a virus, it can extract such addresses and send emails to them (or send the list of addresses to the person who controls the virus).

Hi Angio,
Another possible mechanism: every now and then we all receive "chain emails" about some alleged danger or worthy cause with a plea to send it to all your friends. These usually are devices used to "harvest" email addresses that are later compiled and sold to spammers and scammers.

Then he said he would pay me the full amount in advance (which was already suspicious as I had never heard of anyone paying the full amount in advance!) and he wanted to send me a cheque.

I wrote back saying that a bank transfer would be much easier and the most sensible payment option, because it would save us both a lot of hassle and I also asked him for the second time about his details. His reply was "I QUIT", which I found (again!) very suspicious (a reputable agency/client would elaborate a bit more, I think! ). The obvious reason was that it wouldn't have served his purpose.
I don't consider myself as naive and I can safely say that I would never fall for the "cheque with the higher amount and me having to send money back" scam, but it just goes to show how easy it is for these people to "infiltrate" our lives and our businesses.
Beware of these scammers and good luck to everyone!

Ci sono cascato anche io da buon novellino! mi è successo due giorni fa. Cosa potrebbe succedere se abbiamo fornito i nostri dati?
