| Description | Forerunner. The Association of Interpretation and Translation was founded in November 1994 by the Graduate Institute of Translation and Interpretation Studies (GITIS), Fujen University, Taipei, Taiwan. The Association met monthly for the study of subjects relating to translation and interpretation. At the end of this period in June 1997, 120 members were registered. Formal Establishment. The Taiwan Association of Translation and Interpretation (TATI) was formally established on July 5, 1997 in Taipei. With members transferred from its forerunner, the Association began with 150 members and grew to 280 by the end of 1998, including 43 student members. |
