I am a former British soldier and non-commissioned officer. I am also a qualified vehicle mechanic and indentured central heating and ventilation engineer with a combined period of almost twenty years experience. I have lived and worked in Germany since 1978 (including military service but with one or two short breaks), and was already acting as a military translator and interpreter in 1982. I now concentrate on translations only, and have been successfully full-time freelance since 2001.

I have been a Geological Engineer (staatlich geprüfter Geologietechniker) since July 1999, hence my specialist translation areas. I have translated geotechnical DIN standards, the German National Annex to EC 7 (DIN 1054), and books on geology and astronomy.

I am a member of the British Geotechnical Association, the German Berufsverband Staatlich Geprüfter Techniker, the Geologists' Association, the German Berufsverband Deutscher Geowissenschaftler, the German tekom - Gesellschaft für technische Kommunikation und Dokumentation, and an Associated Member of the ICE - Institution of Civil Engineers.

Ich bin ehemaliger Britischer Soldat und Unteroffizier, und gelernter Kfz.-Schlosser und Zentralheizungs- und Lüftungsbauer mit zusammen beinahe zwanzig Jahre Erfahrung. Ich konzentriere mich jetzt nur noch auf Übersetzungen, und bin seit 2001 erfolgreich freiberuflich selbständig.

Ich bin seit Juli 1999 staatlich geprüfter Geologietechniker, was meine Spezialbereiche erklärt. Ich habe geotechnische DIN Normen übersetzt, die Deutsche Nationale Anwendungsdokument zum EC7 (DIN 1054), und Bücher über Geologie und Astronomie.

Ich bin Mitglied im British Geotechnical Association, der Berufsverband Staatlich Geprüfter Techniker, der Geologists' Association, der Berufsverband Deutscher Geowissenschaftler, tekom - Gesellschaft für technische Kommunikation und Dokumentation, und assoziierter Mitglied im ICE - Institution of Civil Engineers.
