: As a native, this choice does not sound right to me. "Marginalized school" could work better because it suggests that students are treated as insignificant or peripheral.

: Creo que tienes una confusión con "boarding school" (internado), porque lo relacionas con niños "con problemas". Los niños de las poblaciones marginales (rurales o no), pueden tener toda clase de problemas, pero básicamente son pobres.

Te equivocas, una escuela marginal es donde van chicos con problemas, una escuela rural es la que van chicos con extrema pobreza....
