English term
range to empty
English
Tech/Engineering
Automotive / Cars & Trucks
Gauges
The context: Please show them the switch for toggling through the trip odometer and range to empty.
Should be read: [trip odometer and range] [to empty] or else? Yet, isn't odometer for gauging range?
But, however it should be read, I have absolutely no idea what to empty> means. A kind of resetting the gauge?
Thanks a lot for your help.

how far you can drive until you run out of fuel
i.e. until the tank is "empty"

: That's what "range to empty" must mean.

: Yes, of course, I used to have this function on my Audi: how much fuel is left in your tank, expressed in terms of a range in miles or kilometres.

: How I understand this immediately in the USA. "Miles to go before I sleep..."
