Swedish term

efterfordon

Swedish to English Tech/Engineering Transport / Transportation / Shipping roadworks
Hello

husvagnar
tankvagnar.

The problem is that we would not call this a "vehicle" (fordon) in English (a compressor is not a vehicle) but it seems that it is not a släpvagn (trailer) either.

So after eliminating all these possibilities, I'm lost as to what it can be in English, if the concept exists at all?

Thanks

Adrian MM. Dec 29, 2019:
'Uncommon' carrier Let us - notably those who have worked in export - pray that the end-user(s) do(es) not interpret and construe 'carrier' as a common carrier, namely a road haulier or haulage business.

@ all Hello
Sorry to close this one without points but I used "carrier" instead of "trailer" finally. I had started to use "towed implement" but it did not work in all the segments, as some made reference just to the "carrier" rather than the implement (in tow)
But thanks as always for trying to help me.

Swedish term (edited): efterfordon

trailer or skid unit

'When is doubt, call it a unit' - and not the trailer itself.

Gullberg's 'towed implement' looks like a large kitchen tool.
Example sentence:

A Skid Unit (called a "Slip-on" in Australia) is the common name used to refer to a complete self-contained fire fighting apparatus designed for use on/in commercially available vehicle platforms

Peer comment(s):

agree Michael Ellis : Agree "Trailer unit" or just "Trailer", as I don't think we distinguish in UK (and probably USA) see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trailer_(vehicle)

Thanks. The problem with trailer on its own is that, as the asker has remarked, it doubles as a hauler of things, whereas trailer unit or skid unit denotes what is being towed as a discrete, 'self-contained' item of plant, rolling stock or equipment.
