Die Kritik von Lesern warum der Autor den kulturellen Teil seiner Argumentation von Globalisierung verstehen nicht weiterverfolgt und untersucht welche Auswirkungen nun zu Beginn des 21. German term (edited):
die Einebnung der Welt
Selected
the "flattening" of the world
Your third question today "flache Welt" has to be translated as Friedmann intended in his book The World is Flat. For the sake of consistency in the text you are translating, Einebnung = flattening.
Because the concept runs counter to our knowledge of the world as a globe, flattening has to be placed in "scary quotes".
As Tony K observes in the Discussion Box, "levelling of the playing field" makes even less sense to the reader here. Also, the other proposal omits the key element of Welt.

Twentieth-century social thinking of almost every hue is shaped by anxiety about the flattening out of the world, the increasing atomization, specialization, bureaucratization, and general shrinking of the spirit or soul or life-world that is the accompanying price of modernity’s material success and domination over nature.

Levelling the playing field = organising society and commerce to operate more fairly ... which may not be the meaning here.

levelling the playing field
Source includes Welt but context makes it clear that this is in terms of globalisation. Well known expression that can be used here.
