Although not common in EN, this is in fact the technically correct term for this shape.

Yes, it does help, since we get an idea of what the tip is for and why the shape may be important; the term 'ogival tip' is used for all sorts of things, including (though now we know, not relevant) felt-tip pens. More robust than a conical pointed tip.
I reckon Tony and CadastreToulouse have put you on the right path for this term. Certainly a new one for me, thanks!
