Thinking of intelligence through the keyhole of cognition

English Social Sciences Psychology definition of cognition
Dear colleagues,
I’m not sure about the meaning of “Thinking of intelligence through the keyhole of cognition” taken from the passage below. I think it may refer to a sort of “narrow perspective”, since the author is critical about this position, but I couldn't find a metaphoric meaning for "keyhole"...
Thank you so much for your help!

*************************

*** Thinking of intelligence through the keyhole of cognition *** is deeply grounded in Western culture, and the prefrontal cortex has traditionally been posited by comparative anatomists as the structure that separates us from other primates. This is why most experts in executive functioning use computer analogies and flowcharts to explain neural functioning. They generally disregard the haphazard nature of our stream of consciousness and the value of input from the body, our emotions, and social relationships. (These assumptions obviously cannot stand in the face of what we have learned about the social nature of the embodied brain within interpersonal neurobiology.)

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

narrow perspective

Yes, you're right - you don't see much through a keyhole. It goes on to say that this approach disregards wider factors such as the body, emotions, and relationships.

narrowly

A keyhole is a very narrow opening, so the metaphorical meaning is “narrowly”.

narrow scope of cognition

Yes, as a native English speaker I understand the "keyhole of cognition" to mean the "narrow scope of cognition" or "narrow perspective of cognition" in this context.

The context provided shows that there can be different types of intelligence outside the scope of cognition, such as the valuable input from the body

yes, you are not getting a complete view when looking through a keyhole but rather a focused view or, as you say a narrow perspective. In this case based on cognition

So not taking a broader overview as such
