numele testului vine de la zgomotul produs la inchiderea unei supape (banuiesc) a unui dispozitiv de masurare a presiunii sistolice/diastolice. testul se mai numeste "al undei dreptunghiulare", de la faptul ca variatia presiunii este atit de brusca (urmare a inchiderii foarte rapide a supapei), incit graficul evolutiei presiunii este in forma unei unde dreptunghiulare.
