Discussion

chuckopolo (asker) Jan 22, 2014:
oops ... I guess I had no more than that.
As you say, its a night-study program during which they study rabbinic sage text and make a Tikkun, the content of which they later deliver to others. I trully have nothing else to give here (and as ou guess religion is not my strong side).

That was the sentence that you originally posted. I assume that this is a group of 11th graders that is preparing a learning program of some sort. However, I'd need to know what the program is for (e.g., a holiday, a school learning day, etc.)

here's another sentence from that page:
חלקה הראשון של התוכנית יהיה מיועד לגרעין נבחר ומצומצם של תלמידי מכיתה י"א, אשר ישתתפו בשישה מפגשי לימוד, במהלכם הם יהיו שותפים לבניית התוכן של התיקון, והם גם ישמשו כמנחים של התיקון עבור חבריהם לשכבה.

need additional context It's impossible to answer without further context. If, for example, this refers to training a group to plan and present the content and program for a "Tikkun Leil Shavuot", then the literal translation would be "rectification" or "repair". The context would lead to a translation as "the learning program," i.e., an all night "tikkun" learning program for Shavuot night. However, the word tikkun also refers to other activities, including learning programs for other holiday nights, or even a book that provides parallel enunciated and non-enunciated Chumash texts to aid in learning. Please let us know the context of the program and an accurate translation can be provided.

Tikkun

Now that you posted a later question about Hoshanna Rabba, I wonder if this is also regarding that night. If so, then it refers to "Tikkun Leil Hoshanna Rabba", staying up all night learning Torah on the night of Hoshanna Rabba (the last day of Sukkot when the final judgment is handed down). I would leave it as Tikkun or Tikkun Leil Hoshanna Rabba, with a footnote.

All-night learning program

In this context, the term refers to planning for an all night learning program, such as a "tikkun leil shavuot" or "tikkun hatzot".
