Spanish term

caroso

Spanish to English Marketing Agriculture Fruit Export and Import
Some kind of stone fruit, text is from Argentina - could be a typo since I can't find it anywhere:
"Nuestros principales productos son manzanas, peras, uva de mesa, fruta de hueso (**caroso**, nectarinas)"

Discussion

slothm May 8, 2008:
Probably a rearrangment leftover. The original might have been:
"Nuestros principales productos son manzanas, peras, uva de mesa, fruta de hueso (carozo) y nectarinas".
Ahora creo que tiene sentido la frase.
Carozo=Stone pit.
neilmac (asker) May 8, 2008:
Found this on proz: "whole common cherries with stone in syrup" so it maybe it means the cherry itself (cereza) or the stone/pit? The latter doesn't seem to fit the context.

carozo (stone/pit)

I think this is a typo for 'carozo', term used in Argentina for the stone of a fruit

no worries Terry, I thought the issue here was the typo - I agree that it is a clarification of a type of fruit!

Spanisch: carozo
In Chile, specifically

the context is some product being planted. Some of the grower's other products are avocados and table grapes. I suspect it might be corn, but that's just a guess, since <carozo> generally means <cob>. Any references welcome.

agree Terry Burgess : it's "stone fruit", in brackets clarifying by way of the more familiar colloquialism and specifying nectarines, a variety of peach, just like me [my smooth & downless head]:-))

I think might be a typo

so carozo is according to babylon:
