German term

getrennte Abfolge

German to English Social Sciences Education / Pedagogy Ganztagsschule

Getrennte Abfolge

Discussion

Steffen Walter Feb 1, 2020:
Good point "Timetable" would of course be more appropriate in this school context.
Lancashireman Feb 1, 2020:
schedule or timetable? Category: Education / Pedagogy / Ganztagsschule
Steffen Walter Feb 1, 2020:
Have you thought of ... ... "separate" (getrennt) as opposed to "integrated" (verschränkt) schedules?

Thanks. I also think that your suggestion of 'integrated' works well as a contrast to 'split'.

separate form

I have looked at several Austrian websites and this seems to be a very common educational term. Then I saw that actually the Federal Ministry for Education, Science and research use "Form", rather than "Abfolge.

Example sentence:

"Form" would make sense in British English: A form is an educational stage, class, or grouping of pupils in a school. The term is used predominantly in the United Kingdom.

German term (edited): (AUT) getrennte Abfolge

separate school cohort (bilingual school) streaming into a separate cohort

I know from a bilingual ENG/DEU school in Vienna that pupils are directed into the English/ Anglo-Welsh or German-lingo group and that, from a Volksschule, there are separate and mixed afternoon-Betreuungs / supervision groups.

Example sentence:

Prevalence of streaming in UK primary schools: Evidence from the Millennium Cohort Study Article (PDF Available) in British Educational Research Journal 2012(3) · March 2012 with 859

neutral Jeanie Eldon : I don't think it has to do with "bi-lingual" schooling but simply the Austrian schooling system

Bilingual GER/ENG schools in Vienna, one of which my grandsons was at are - apart from the American School at Donau City - Schulen der Stadt Wien, rather than separate-system, private or direct-grant schools. But thanks anyway for keeping me on my toes!
