E-mail Service Provider should be of help Aug 10, 2011

I think you may ask your e-mail service provider to send you the backup of your sent e-mails, with a note that they are certain and final and eligible for being used before any court. Also, you may ask them to send such an e-mail to your client, either.

Take control of the situation and try to avoid their games. You may just need to send your invoice to a debt collection agency.

I completely agree.

Marius,
you seem to have a hard time figuring out whether you are dealing with a schizophrenic contact person or not.

It is all about taking the rudder and leading the boat.

While I agree that certain (major) agencies are completely disorganised, this one seems to be playing games with you. If you cannot come to a conclusion with e-mails, take them on the phone.

If this still doesn't work, follow Jande's advice and have bigger guns blowing at them!

They must know Aug 14, 2011

What company would not know whether a given job was cancelled a couple of months earlier? They should have records showing this. Ask your client.

Also, where is their email contesting your invoice? They would have contested it had the job been cancelled, wouldn't they? Ask your client.

Why do you have an "email read" receipt from the delivery date if you had nothing to send to them on that day? Has the client deleted all messages going in and out on this specific day? A

Was there anything at all in the translation that could lead you to the end client? If so, I would consider contacting the end user and ask if this translation of yours was indeed never received by them, and if the end user did receive it, I would feel compelled to let him/her know that since the translator has not been paid, the end user has no legal right to use the product, regardless of whether the end user has paid the agency or not. The end user does have a right to know that he/she is using material illegally, right?

If nothing suggests who the end user might be, I would try googling for strings from the translation, as someone else has also suggested. This might give you something.

Good luck.
