It used to be copying and pasting, and finding and replacing, but then I started using Wordfast. Without the automatic save going on in the background, I would have lost a lot of work and wasted a lot of time.

I voted for Find&Replace since very few other programs can match Word in that capability (although I admit Word is the least robust application I've ever seen).
But actually the feature I find most helpful is the Autocorrect. Alas, I'm a sloppy typist...

While many Word features are ancient history, going back to WP, Multi-Mate and PFS, the "undo" features are a true lifesaver, and even let me recover stuff I deleted three moves back

Wow, tough question!
There are so many useful features. One of my favorites, which isn't listed, is autotext. (That's what it's called in Spanish; I suppose it's the same in English).
If you've ever had to write words like "European Pharmacopoeia" or "6-aminopenicillanic acid" 500 times in the same document you'll know how useful it is.

Sometimes I just wonder "what was the author of this poll trying to know and what for?" and this is one of those polls.
Why would anyone want to know what percentage of translators prefer copy/paste of ms word over word count?
Shouldn't polls be useful for data collection or help to other translators?

I don't use any Microsoft products.
I use only Free/Open Source Software.

Other products are better for translation itself. We are using Trados' TagEditor for nearly everything, including Word files now. A lot more stable, better to work with in long tables, no need to alter the format of things in order to be able to translate (I am thinking about tables with fixed row size for instance), and less risk of seeing the format altered.

Autotext & autocorrect, which Mikhail mentioned.
An example of autocorrect (in Spanish): change "paTa" into "paRa".
An example of autotext use: almost every single drug name, treatment, and medical jargon in general.

Was how I decided it was best interpreted.
In which case, I think I could probably just about live without any one of those listed, except "find". I could deal with the other features manually (not that they are not invaluable), but scanning a document looking for term, e.g. to see if it comes up later with a decent explanation, or how significant it is in the text, is enough to make your eyes spontaneously combust.

Changing terms is quick and easy with Find/Replace, and typos are eliminated with Spelling/Grammar checks.
Saying that, we hardly ever get translations in Word.

I beg to differ with Daniel Martin. Nothing wrong in conducting polls of this type. Many of us may be curious to know what percentage of fellow translators prefer this feature over that feature. Their views about the usefulness of MS Word's features are interesting to read.

I thought the exact same thing. Maybe like Sundar said, there are colleagues that appreciate these kinds of polls, but I don't get it.
