once in a while , they can provide a specific word that is on the tip of my tongue and it does not seem to come to mind. It is great to have someone around....
I also call my mother on the phone when I need help with very technical legal terms, she is a lawyer.

Of the adults in my household, I am the only words aware member, and I spend a lot of time pedantically battling to get "himself" to speak Spanish a bit more accurately... (nothing like an arrogant foreigner for correcting the natives!!).
In fact, the comment is quite unfair, because my husband often helps in explaining agricultural terms. And I waiting for the children to get a little bit older.

I will occasionally ask my husband for a second opinion on phrasing, especially if the subject is in his field (IT). He does not speak any French, but I think that the distance from the source text can help at times - especially when it is a case of brain freeze.

I once had to translate a knitting pattern, and my wife's knowledge of and books on the subject were most useful! She can also sometimes help with translations about the care of horses (she had more to do with looking after our daughter's pony than I ever did), and with boating terms (she was in the Sea Rangers many years ago, at which time she acquired the Admiralty Manual of Seamanship, to which I still refer now and again).

When I was living with my paretns I used to ask my dad for help with some technical/engineering terms when translating into Serbian (he is an engineer). Even now I call him sometimes to ask for clarification if I get stuck.

Absolutely all the time
I find everyone's input/feedback incredibly useful. For example, sometimes I'm thinking out loud because I just can't seem to find the perfect way to phrase a sentence... and all of a sudden my husband will make a suggestion which saves me lots of time.

My husband is sometimes familiar with the technical material I'm working on (he's a commercial HVAC specialist and also knows a lot in general about commercial buildings, construction, wiring, plumbing, etc.) But he's also not a "words aware" person and doesn't concern himself much with what things are called. His talent is in understanding how things work--their physical and mechanical properties. He's great if you need to wire a light switch or run network cable. But useless if you want to know if a particular "thingie" is best described as a cable duct or a raceway, or if a particular arrangements of circuits and switches a "single pole double throw" or "double pole single throw"

I suggested this quick poll one day when my husband said that sitting close to me while I translate is like watching the final of a football championship. He says that I keep commenting out loud: "Yes! ", "I can't believe this!" "Oh, no!!!", and so forth.
But I find his company very useful because he is a doctor and has been a professor at the School of Medicine, so if I come across medical terms his input is absolutely the best.
It's great to know that so many of you... ...but I've found that most of the people I hang out with tend to "overthink" the problem. Or they don't understand the doubt that I'm having. It's hard to explain the "hole" that I'm trying to fill. So I've pretty much given up.
Of course, if there were colleague around - or perhaps even a bilingual person - that would be totally different.
